Coleraine Whiskey is distilled by Bushmills
distillery in very light quantity, only about 10,000 cases per year to be
exact. It is very light in style, and very hard to find unless you
are living in, or visiting northern Ireland. It's style is similar
to Bushmills, but it's availability is significantly less. If you
happen across a bottle for sale, pick it up as a keepsake if nothing else,
it's worth the modest price tag. |

Nose: This Northern Irish whiskey has a grain that hold strong throughout, there is a caramel malt that also sweetens the young grain, possibly too much so.
Taste: There is a soft malt to this Irish whiskey, so much so that the grain tends to dominate , even with the spice around the edges.
Finish: The finish of this whiskey may be it's best feature as it is very well balanced. The malt is still present and the grain tends to bring out the bourbon wood as the sweetness seems to caramelize all of which work well together, proving that a lasting impression is almost as important as a first impression. |
