"What whiskey will not cure, there is no cure for.” -Old Irish Proverb Jameson was introduced into the market in a bottled form as recently as 1968. For hundreds of years, Jameson sold their whiskey by the cask for individual bottlers to sell under their own label around the world. Although Jameson had always come in second in popularity to Power's in Ireland, it has achieved a status the standard abroad. In 1988, Pernod-Ricard acquired Irish Distillers and made a decision to place their marketing resources behind 2 of Irish distilleries brands, Bushmills and Jameson. this decision resulted in Jameson accounting for almost 75% of all Irish Whiskey sold world wide. The fact that there is strong marketing behind Jameson Irish Whiskey should not discount the fact that it's recipe has been carefully tweaked and re-designed over the years to appeal to the largest cross section of people possible. It's smooth pot still and grain content is at about 50/50, this along with the fresh ex-bourbon casks helps to dampen the pot still higher notes. To finish this smooth recipe off is the use of 10% sherry casks as well.

Nose: A nice layer of clean, fresh sherry gives weight & quality to this Irish Whiskey. Take a deeper breath, and the pot still is apparent, along with the grain, which is also clear and crisp. slight hints of sweet marzipan suggest a baked fruit character.
Taste: Upon first encounter with the pallet, the pot still flavor plays a larger roll than the nose lets on. The sweetness is well balanced, and maintains, even as hints of sherry begin to come out. Very full flavored, and hinting at the complexities of much higher priced whiskeys
Finish: In the finish, the Sherry and Barley maintain, but the grains also come out in a smooth and inviting way. The Sherry maintains as a balancer of the flavors and ensures that no unpleasantness is left.
